Joss Whedon, Judd Apatow, And Directors Tell All On Twitter

People pay attention to the glamorous (and crazy) celebs on Twitter, but the real juice comes from the people calling the shots behind the camera. Here’s who you have to follow.

Carnahan has been taking to Twitter lately to break a bunch of news about his newest movie, Stretch, which comes on the heels of his massive success with The Grey. Earlier, he was practically live-tweeting the shoot for the pilot of NBC's The Black List. He's always game to offer his opinions on the state of the film industry, the people he doesn't like, and UFC matches.

New to Twitter, Whedon initially joined to promote Much Ado About Nothing, but he's found the perfect outlet for his quips and sheer verbosity. Pictures and Vines from the Much Ado bus tour to SXSW were obsessively shared, making Whedon a power user right away.

The current king of comedy tweets almost non-stop, which is incredible considering how many projects he produces. The director of the The 40-Year Old Virgin and This Is 40 produces a lot of set pics, but he's probably best known for his amazing and always-beautiful selfies.

Actor, director, producer, and prolific selfie-taker, Howard always has something going on. He regularly updates followers on not only his shows and films but also his travels, with various shots from around the world. His photos of Arrested Development pre-release were just downright cruel, and now he's been teasing Rush, his upcoming F1 racing movie, for months.

A directing veteran with an eclectic career that includes Walk The Line and 3:10 to Yuma, Mangold is now directing The Wolverine, the sequel to the most recent Hugh Jackman X-Men standalone film. The number of close up shots from the set is unrivaled and he gives updates on trailers and cast info as well.

The British director has been pumping up the excitement for his third movie starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, The World's End. It launches this month in the UK, and he's been sharing photos from the press tour, as well as sneak screenings. Wright is also tweeting out set photos from his first movie, Shaun of the Dead.

The director of X-Men, The Usual Suspects, and Superman Returns, among many others, is returning to the mutant hero franchise with X-Men: Days of Future Past. He has provided near-daily updates, from cool set shots to stars in full makeup.

When he's not podcasting, Smith is tweeting. He updates fans on Clerks III, reminisces about his old movies, and responds to various media inaccuracies. Oh, and he talks about hockey, a lot.
